Ingredients

  • Grated pumpkin 250 g
  • Bread slices 5
  • Raisins
  • Gram flour 3 tablespoons
  • Ginger paste 1 tablespoon
  • Red chilli powder ½-1 tsp (as per taste)
  • Dry mango (amchur) powder 1 tsp
  • Kasuri Methi 1 tsp
  • Roasted cumin powder ½ tsp
  • Oil 1 tablespoon
  • Oil for brushing (if air frying) or for shallow fry.
  • Salt to taste

Ready in 20 minutes

Serves 6 people 

Preparation

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a wok. Add  ginger paste and saute for ½ min.
  2. Add gram flour and saute for 1-2 mins.
  3. Add red chilli powder, cumin powder, dry mango powder and mix.
  4. Add grated pumpkin and saute until moisture evaporates. Add kasuri methi and mix.
  5. Switch off the gas. Mix in  bread slices cut into small pieces.
  6. After cooling down the mixture, add salt and mix the whole mixture properly such that there are no big chunks of bread in it.
  7. Make lemon-sized balls out of the mixture. Place a raisin in each ball and roll again. Press a little with your palm to
  8. make a kebab-like shape.
  9. Shallow-fry until they turn golden brown on both sides. OR brush a little oil on both sides and air fry at full heat for 12 mins (might vary with different brands) or until golden brown.

Tips

The mixture should not be too loose or sticky, firmness should be close to that of dough. Can add more bread slices if you feel that the mixture will not hold the shape.
